Vieira & Petit win another trophy.
Since 1966, West Ham fans have proudly claimed that they won the World Cup due to Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters being in the victorious England team.
In 1998, Arsenal were represented by Patrick Vieira and Emmanuel Petit in the victorious French team.
Unlike the West Ham players, Arsenal’s two had just won the Double as well.
A very special historical achievement.

This was the 16th World Cup Tournament.
France won it for the 1st time.
Brazil were 2nd - Croatia 3rd - Holland 4th.
Davo Suker, who later played for Arsenal, was top scorer with 6 goals.
England were knocked out on penalties by Argentina, after Michael Owen had scored a great goal and David Beckham had been sent off.
Arsenal’s Dennis Bergkamp, of Holland, scored a last minute of extra time, wonder goal in the next round to knock out Argentina.
Arsenal also had David Seaman, Tony Adams and Martin Keown in the England squad.
Scotland score but it’s not enough.

France beat Brazil 3-0 in the Final after some confusion about the Tournament’s Star player, Ronaldo’s, fitness.
Zidane scored twice and Petit got the 3rd goal.

We’d managed to get him a ticket for the FA Cup Final against Newcastle.
His first Final since Arsenal won the Double in 1971.
