I would like to wish a very Happy 67th Birthday to my good mate Vic Wright.
Many of you will know him from the Arsenal Supporters Club, where he used to be a steward on the coaches to away games.
He was also a Tour Guide at the Emirates stadium for a few years.
Nigel Winterburn - Charlie George - Vic Wright.
Legends!!
Vic with Anfield’89 Trophy.
Can you also raise a glass to the memory of Anfield’89 which was 31 years ago today.
As if you didn’t know!!
League (Littlewoods) Cup Final 1987.
The usual suspects met at “Archies” pub, the Green Man, in Hoxton where we’d hired a coach to go to Wembley.
Some old faces there - sadly, 2 are no longer with us.
I’m in again.
They’re coming in with me.
They’re already in.
Patrons of the “Goldsmiths” or “Sebright Arms” off of Hackney Road during the ‘70s & ‘80s,
will remember the Guv’nor John “JC” Collins and his son “Young Johnny”.
They’re in.
In case you don’t know the words.
They’re also in.
So are they.
The Liverpool striker Ian Rush was also in, they’d never lost a game when he had scored.
What happens? He Scores!!
But Charlie Nicholas scores 2 and we win the cup.
Rush - Record - Ruined.
Charlie is our Darling.
Charlie’s happy.
Perry’s happy.
It’s all over.
Paul Davis is happy.
The whole team are happy.
Kenny Sansom is happy.
Rocky with his first trophy.
The South London Boys are happy.
Theo & George are happy.
David “Rocky” Rocastle is happiest.
He joins the list of “Special Ones”.
The usual suspects were happy back at “Archies”.
Gooners everywhere were happy, as George Graham had given us our pride back in his first season.
Next Post - Wednesday 27/5/2020.
Hail Caesar!!
