A Last Look at my Corner of Highbury Stadium.

How I Remember it - Note the Half Time Scoreboard.
Farewell.
After 93 years, Arsenal left Highbury stadium and moved to the new, 60,000 capacity, State of the Art, Emirates stadium nearby.
Sadly, they couldn’t take the European Cup with them.
The last match at Highbury was against Wigan, Arsenal won this game to finish above the team from the Lane and claim the last Champions league place.

Some Arsenal Legends say Farewell.
Legendary Highbury Strikers.
Iconic Arsenal!!
Lasagna!!
This day was also memorable for the “Lasagna” excuse that was given by the players from the Lane for not winning their last game.

Emirates Stadium.
The Emirates was officially opened with a Testimonial game for the recently retired, Dennis Bergkamp.
The first game that Guy and myself attended at the Emirates was a Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb.
Our first impression was, it was like being at a European away game.
Architecturally magnificent, Spacious and Arsenal’s.
Fantastic for the newer generations of Arsenal Fans but Highbury was in the hearts, of most of my generation.
Vic W asked me to say a few words about the new stadium for a video.
I obliged by adapting the words of Sir Christopher Wren, the architect of St Paul’s Cathedral, as a tribute to Arsene Wenger.
“If you seek my epitaph, just look around you”
In my opinion, despite later staying at Arsenal a few years too long, without Arsene Wenger, the club wouldn’t be the massive institution that it is today.
Farewell to Historic Highbury.
Next Post - Saturday 27/6/2020.
