Arsenal were knocked out of the League Cup by Swindon after previously beating
Brighton, Southampton and on a wonderful night at Highbury, our Mates Leeds 7-0.
FA Cup.
Arsenal beat Cardiff - Brighton - Bolton - Watford to set up a semifinal with Liverpool.
The first game was 0-0 at Hillsborough.

After Alan Sunderland scored in the first minute and Dalglish equalised in the last minute.

The 3rd replay was at Coventry where Brian Talbot got the winner for Arsenal.

European Cup Winners Cup.
In the ECW Cup we beat Fenerbahçe - Magdeburg - IFK Gothenburg to set up a semifinal win the mighty Italians, Juventus.

Apparently there was serious crowd trouble in Magdeburg but I imagine it was nothing compared to Juventus.

My mate Putney went to this game and Pat Rice gave him a match ticket and a pass to the players lounge afterwards where he chatted to his old mates Pat Rice & Sammy Nelson.

I remember the first leg at Highbury, mainly for when the Juventus striker, Bettega, attempted to take David O’Leary’s leg back to Italy with him, after a horrific tackle.
The game ended 1-1 and so it was off to Turin for the 2nd leg, where Juventus had never lost a European game at Home.
Their team contained Italian football legends such as Zoff - Gentile - Causio.
But we had a Bermondsey boy, Paul Vaessen, on the bench.

Juventus fans are not happy.
My mate Spandau once told me, that he’d never been so scared as that night in Turin.
He couldn’t believe that nobody was killed.
Vic W told me that the Arsenal Fans were kept in at the end and the stadium lights were turned off, this meant hundreds of Arsenal Fans had to go down the stairs in complete darkness, luckily, nobody fell over, as this could have resulted in fatalities.
Outside, the Juventus fans were waiting and he’s convinced at least one had a pistol.
Some Torino fans showed him and others a safe route to their coaches.
